Hi, I’m Laura

I've spent the last fifteen years helping charities, public organisations and educational institutions communicate more effectively with the people they exist to serve.

Along the way I've realised something.

The organisations creating the greatest social impact often don't need bigger marketing budgets. They need clearer stories. a better understanding of the people they're trying to reach., and they need communications that genuinely reflect the communities they're working with.

That's why I created Two Black Cats.

Throughout my career, I've been drawn to organisations that exist to make a positive difference. Whether that's widening access to education, reducing loneliness, encouraging healthier communities or increasing participation in arts and culture, I've always been most motivated by work that helps people feel connected, included and inspired to take part.

I love helping organisations uncover what makes them unique, define the stories only they can tell and communicate them in a way that feels genuine, engaging and true to who they are. Good communications shouldn't just tell people what you do. They should help people understand why it matters and make them want to be part of it.

So why Two Black Cats?

In many cultures, two black cats are seen as symbols of luck, prosperity and good fortune. I liked the idea of building a consultancy around helping organisations grow with confidence and create lasting impact, while hopefully bringing a little of that good fortune along the way.

The name is also inspired by my own two black cats, Norman and Queenie. They're never far away while I'm working and, although they have very little interest in audience development or brand strategy, they enjoy rewarding my hard work with the occasional mouse, bird or frog.
